Cash prize for tagged fish in Hot Springs

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. (KTHV) - Arkansas Game and Fish is awarding cash prizes to those who catch a fish and return their tag. 

According to Arkansas Game and Fish, staff member Andrew H. Hulsey Hatchery recently tagged and released 60 sport fish of various species in Lake Catherine and Lake Hamilton as part of Visit Hot Springs' annual Hot Springs Fishing Challenge. 

People who catch a tagged fish is asked to return the tag in exchange for a cash prize. The amount will range from $500 to $10,000. 

One fish was caught the first weekend in May and was worth $5,000.

MALVERN, Ark. (KTHV) - A family is still frustrated with lingering questions about their 6-year-old hit by a car last October. The Long family sent THV11 chilling surveillance video of the incident.

According to the incident report from Hot Spring County Sheriff's Office, the driver was 37-year-old Misty Bailey. She struck 6-year-old Damien Long while he was on his bike on October 22, 2014. Five days after the incident, October 27, the Sheriff's Office sent their complete report to the Clark County Prosecuting Attorney's Office, a special prosecutor assigned to the case due to a potential conflict of interest.

Benton PD needs help locating runaway teen

BENTON, Ark. (KTHV) - The Benton Police Department is asking for the public’s help in finding a 17-year-old who ran away from his home Thursday, April 23.

Christopher Bennett left his home Thursday, and according to reports, has not been seen from his parents since. 

Bennett is described as being a white male standing at approximately 5'6" tall and weighing at around 150 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. He is believed to still be in the central Arkansas area. 

Police stated that any person who knowingly harbors a runaway could face charges.

MALVERN, Ark. (KTHV) - On Thursday, April 23, Malvern officials will be holding a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new LifeNet location.

The company will be located on Highway 270 behind Fred's. The ribbon cutting cermony will begin at 10 a.m. and it is open to the public.

Traffic stop leads to meth delivery arrest

BENTON, Ark. (KTHV) - A simple traffic stop lead to a methamphetamine delivery bust in Benton, Ark. Wednesday. 

A Benton police officer made the stop after observing a car make a U-turn in the middle of an intersection at Valley View Drive and Carpenter Street around 12:50 p.m. Wednesday afternoon. The driver, Jeffery Kilpatrick, 45, of Little Rock also failed to use proper signals during the U-turn. 

During questioning of the driver, the officer discovered a plastic baggie containing 14.9 grams of what appeared to be Methamphetamine. After further investigation, police discovered an additional 2.4 grams of the crystal-like substance and a small amount of Marijuana. 

Kilpatrick was booked into the Saline County Detention Facility for Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Deliver and Possession of Marijuana. 

This is an on-going investigation and additional charges could be possible, according to officials.
