LRFW returns in a big way | Style

The 5th annual Little Rock Fashion Week is July 15-20. The days of LRFW have different events to accommodate all ages and will take place in the downtown Little Rock area.
The different events include: Music Remix Showcase on Monday, July 15 at Cornerstone Pub; Artist’s Statement on Tuesday, July 16 at Hearne Fine Art Gallery; For Kids by Kids (FKBK) on Wednesday, July 17 at the Little Rock Zoo which will be hosted by 10-year-old model, Tanaia Esaw; Shoppers’ Night Out on Thursday, July 18 at Belk at Pleasant Ridge Town Center; Media, Industry & VIP Mixer at The Italian Kitchen (Lulav) on Friday, July 19; and the Big Night on Saturday, July 20.
LRFW ‘s Big Night: Posh Expression vs. Young & Fabulous will be held at the Robinson Center Exhibition Hall, 7 Statehouse Plaza, Little Rock, Ark., 72201. Doors will open at 6 p.m. and the show will begin at 7:30 p.m. The host of the show will be Mark Edwards, THV 11 Sports Anchor.
“Saturday is a big combination, and it’s very unique and creative,” said Brandon Campbell, LRFW’s founder and executive producer. “I guarantee you that attendees will witness some things they’ve never seen on a fashion runway.”
General Admission for the Big Night is $35 in advance. VIP tickets are $45 in advance, which includes special seating, a swag bag and food. An all week pass is $55 in advance, which includes general admittance to all the events and a discount into FKBK at the Little Rock Zoo. One can show their ticket to LRFW and they’ll enter for $5. FKBK benefits the zoo. An all week exclusive pass is $75 in advance, which includes access to all events, VIP seating and special offers at LRFW.
The Big Night will feature clothing lines from multiple fashion labels. Separated in groups named after LRFW’s marque fashion shows – Young & Fabulous and Posh Expression - audiences can experience two shows in one.
Team Young & Fabulous models will wear clothing lines Ms Smitty by Jennifer Smith of Maumelle, Ark.; Foreign by incoming University of Arkansas at Fayetteville freshman India Callahan of Dumas, Ark.; D.ooh by Dominic Hall of Little Rock; and Behold My Essence (B.M.E.) by Eric Summons of Little Rock.
Team Posh Expression models will wear fashion labels by “LRFW 2012 Clothing Line of the Year” Kelvin Haydon by Kelvin Haydon of Milwaukee; Hope E. by Hope Smith of Little Rock; Love R.O.C.S. by Shonda Ali-Shamaa of Conway; Lymelyfe by Lisa Jackson of Little Rock; Jessiica Howell Fashions by “DC Fashion Week 2013 Emerging Designer of the Year” Jessiica Howell of Houston; and “LRFW 2010 Clothing Line of the Year” Nicole McGehee Collection by Nicole McGehee of Little Rock.
LRFW is offering plenty of opportunities for young aspiring fashion designers. Through LRFW’s partnership with Goodwill Industries of Arkansas, high school students from Mount St. Mary Academy and eStem Public Charter Schools are presenting social issues that affect them through fashion art at LRFW’s Big Night. At the same show, the winners from grades 1st through 12th for the 2013 LRFW Youth Fashion Sketch Design Competition will be announced.
LRFW 2012 Youth Fashion Sketch Design Winners were Serenity Clark of Bryant in the first-fifth grade division, Trinity Tremble of Lonoke in the sixth-eighth grade division and Ashton Martin of Little Rock in the ninth-12th grade division. Clark, Tremble and Martin received several items for winning and will be special VIP guests at LRFW 5.
LRFW 5 plans to honor participants, including fashion veteran Connie Fails, a fashion designer and artist who has designed clothes for former first lady Hillary Clinton. LRFW 2013 Clothing Line of the Year” and “LRFW 2013 Model of the Year” will be announced at a later date following LRFW.
Winner of LRFW 2013 Model and Clothing Line of the year will receive prizes, special benefits for one year, and promotion up to one year. The “LRFW 2013 Model of the Year” will receive a modeling contract with Oneofakind Talent Inc. and a cash prize.
Designers’ fashion lines and the models will be evaluated by fashion industry experts and journalists who attend the all week extravaganza. This year’s VIP guest and talent evaluator is award winning menswear fashion designer Denis Antoine. His works has been featured in publications GQ and The Independent (UK). Also, Antoine is a professor at Savannah College of Art & Design School of Fashion.
LRFW 2013 Model of the Year Hannah Daniel of Mabelvale, Ark. headlines a talented group of models that Campbell says has the “best combination of looks and talent” that he’s worked with for LRFW. Model Larry Scruggs, of Pine Bluff, Ark., is considered the best male model in Arkansas. He returns to LRFW for the 4th year in a row – tied for the most appearances with Remi Hodges, of Maumelle, Ark. Scruggs, an Oneofakind Talent Inc. signee, is being featured in an upcoming fashion spread for Dillard’s Inc.
“Every year is bigger and better, but the people are what make LRFW what it is,” said Larry Scruggs, LRFW 2011 Model of the Year.
