Pulaski, Saline Co. see 12 arrests on 23 active felony bench warrants

UNDATED (KTHV) - Twelve individuals were taken into custody Monday, March 30 on 23 active felony bench warrants. 

The Saline County Sheriff's Office joined up with the Benton Police Department, Bryant Police Department and the United States Marshal's Service to conduct the arrests. According to officials, there were six teams comprised of over 30 deputies, U.S. agents and K-9 units holding the investigation.

 Following are the names, race, sex, ages and charges of the people arrested:

1.      Suzie Cox                    W/F     30 YOA          FTA for hot checks

2.      Constance Jackson    B/F      45 YOA          FTA for narcotic violations

GARLAND COUNTY, Ark. (KTHV) - Garland County Sheriff Michael McCormick is warning of an old phone scam that is making its rounds again.

Several Garland County residents have reported that they were contacted by phone and told that they had not reported for jury duty. The callers have identified themselves as being with the Garland County Sheriff's Department and that warrants had been issued for their arrest. The caller then tells victims that arrest could be avoided by purchasing a $500 debit card from Kroger. The caller then tells the victim to call them back with number of the debit card and the pin number.

BENTON, Ark. (KTHV) - A single vehicle accident led to an illegal narcotics arrest Sunday night. 

Around 7 p.m. March 22, officers received a call stating that there was a single vehicle accident near the intersection of Lillian and Sevier Streets. Witnesses stated that they saw a Jeep swerving on Sevier Street. The driver Kevin Langley, 30,  then hit an embankment causing his vehicle to flip. According to witnesses, Langley then exited his vehicle and ran towards Tyndall Park.

Multi-agency investigation leads to arrest for methamphetamine and weapon charges

BENTON, Ark. (KTHV) - Several law enforcement offices found themselves involved in an investigation into possible illegal narcotic activity, after the Arkansas Highway Police conducted a traffic stop on Tuesday.

Ricardo Mendez, 35, of Alexander was pulled over around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday afternoon, and the information and evidence obtained in this stop launched a narcotics investigation. 

Agents from the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) in conjunction with officers from the Arkansas Highway Police, Benton Police Department, Little Rock Police Department, Saline County Sheriff’s Office, and the Saline County Prosecutor’s Office then obtained and executed a search warrant for Mendez’s residence at 1019 Fox Hunt Trail in Alexander.

Men pull out weapons over argument about children in street

BENTON, Ark. (KTHV) – Two men have been arrested on aggravated assault charges following a disturbance with weapons, according to the Benton Police Department.

Lt. Kevin Russell said 33-year-old Joseph Williams and 35-year-old Brandon Dobbs got into an argument over children playing in the street after Dobbs apparently yelled at them to move.

Both men were arrested and taken to the Saline County Detention Facility. Both were charged with aggravated assault and disorderly conduct.

Juvenile escapees captured after officials failed to lock doors

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. (KTHV) - After a lengthy investigation, officials found that deputies with the Garland County Juvenile Detention Center failed to lock the security doors, which aided in the escaped of two juveniles on Feb. 10.

According to Sheriff Mike McCormick, six employees with the Juvenile Detention Center have been suspended without pay and one shift supervisor was terminated following the incident.
