Multi-agency investigation leads to arrest for methamphetamine and weapon charges

BENTON, Ark. (KTHV) - Several law enforcement offices found themselves involved in an investigation into possible illegal narcotic activity, after the Arkansas Highway Police conducted a traffic stop on Tuesday.

Ricardo Mendez, 35, of Alexander was pulled over around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday afternoon, and the information and evidence obtained in this stop launched a narcotics investigation. 

Agents from the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) in conjunction with officers from the Arkansas Highway Police, Benton Police Department, Little Rock Police Department, Saline County Sheriff’s Office, and the Saline County Prosecutor’s Office then obtained and executed a search warrant for Mendez’s residence at 1019 Fox Hunt Trail in Alexander.  

Once in Mendez's home, investigators found 6.1 ounces of Methamphetamine costing around $15,000, numerous firearms which were reported stolen from the central Arkansas area and drug paraphernalia used to process and sell illegal narcotics. 

Mendez is being held in the Saline County Detention Facility. According to police, this is an on-going investigation with more arrests possible.
