Four suspects arrested in Walmart theft ring

MALVERN, Ark. (KTHV) - The Malvern Police Department arrested four suspects in a theft ring from the local Wal-Mart Super Center on Wednesday.

Three suspects entered Wal-Mart and filled a container with electronics and attempted to leave the store.

When confronted by Wal-Mart loss prevention employees, the three suspects exited the store and were met at the front doors by the fourth suspect who was driving the suspect vehicle. The vehicle then attempted to leave the area. Officers arrived at Wal-Mart and began a search of the surrounding area. The suspects and the vehicle were observed and located in a local bank parking lot close by and were placed into custody.

An inventory of the vehicle led to the discovery of a list of items found to be stolen along with illegal drugs and paraphernalia. Also discovered was a detailed list of Wal-Mart locations around Arkansas and East Texas that were to be victims. These locations were divided into groupings within specific geographic areas.

The Malvern police have previously investigated a similar theft ring which resulted in multiple arrests and will continue to work with Wal-Mart employers and other law enforcement agencies to disrupt this connected theft ring.

Those arrested were Acacia Hemund, 28, Briana Ware, 24, Michael Taylor, 29, and Nathan Stachmus, 34. They were charged with Theft (Class D Felony), Possession of a controlled substance (Class D Felony), and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (Class D Felony).

All will be held in the Hot Spring County Jail on a $10,000 cash or professional bond.
