A two-hour standoff in Hot Spring County ended Tuesday with the suspect slashing his arm and being transported to Baptist Hospital in Arkadelphia.

The incident happened about 1:45 p.m. on Mercer Lane in Bismarck.

According to officials, emergency calls were made about a hostage situation on Mercer Lane.

Chris Nicly, 40 of Bismarck was suspected of holding his mother hostage.

According to witnesses, there was an argument over a sum of money and the suspect became aggravated with his mother.  His mother escaped the residence and was hiding behind a barn until her neighbor returned home and found her. She then went inside her neighbor's home until her son was apprehended.

Nicly broke windows from the home before Hot Spring County Deputies tazed him. The suspect then cut a gash into his arm before being arrested.

Officials said Nicly had consumed several bottles of pills before the confrontation occured.

He was then transported to the hospital

The Hot Spring County Sheriff’s Office, Arkansas State Police and park rangers were all at the scene.
